Require Public Hearings for All Utility-Scale Solar Arrays on Farmland
Idaho's prime agricultural land is being converted to solar arrays without meaningful public input. We demand a statewide requirement for public hearings on any utility-scale solar project exceeding 100 acres on irrigated farmland.

Idaho is losing thousands of acres of prime irrigated farmland every year to utility-scale solar developments. These projects are being approved through administrative permitting processes that give neighboring landowners and farming communities little to no voice.
We demand that the Idaho Legislature pass a law requiring a public hearing — with mailed notice to all property owners within one mile — before any county or state agency can approve a solar energy project larger than 100 acres on land zoned for agriculture.
This is not an anti-solar petition. It is a pro-democracy, pro-farmland petition. Idahoans deserve a seat at the table when industrial-scale land use changes happen in their communities.
